Our Commitment to Health and Safety

Our goal has always been to provide an experience that is both memorable and safe for our customers, and since the start of the pandemic those two things have never been more important. The health and safety of our employees and the public is our #1 priority, and we will continue to be a leader in our community by meeting or exceeding the guidelines set out by our local government to keep us all safe.

We have assessed the risks at our workplace and have actively involved our staff in addressing them. Working together we have identified areas of concern, tasks that may put risk upon our staff and the public, identified shared tools and equipment, and high contact touch areas.

To see how we have addressed these risks please see our Covid-19 Safety Plan below, formatted from WorkSafeBC. This Safety Plan also outlines the policies, guidelines, and procedures we have put in place to reduce Covid-19 transmission.

First Level Protection: Elimination
Limiting the number of people in a workplace and ensuring social distancing:

  • Our truck is typically only operated by one person. When there are two, masks are required the entire time
  • Guests are not allowed inside our workspace
  • We have signage on the side of the truck encouraging social distancing
  • Guests are encouraged to stand back from the window while their order is being readied
  • Direct contact between staff members is avoided when possible, and communication is done primarily by phone or email
  • There is no physical contact between customers and staff (i.e.: handshakes, high 5’s etc)
  • Prolonged conversations between staff and customers are discouraged

Second Level Protection: Engineering
Barriers and Partitions:

  • Masks are mandatory for our staff while serving customers to provide a barrier to respiratory droplets
  • Staff is instructed to avoid leaning out the service window whenever possible and to stay within the confines of the truck
  • We carry a supply of gloves and extra masks for those who may need them

Third Level Protection: Administrative
Rules and Guidelines:

  • COVID-19 staff training has been established
  • Code of Ethics regarding Covid-19 protocols has been updated, distributed to staff, and made available for them to review on the truck
  • All staff are required to sign into work claiming they have not been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19, are free of any Covid-19 symptoms and are following all social distancing guidelines set out by the government
  • High contact areas have been identified and outlined on our recorded disinfection schedule
  • Signage for employees has been clearly posted and discussed outlining things like handwashing, COVID-19 symptoms, and cleaning and sanitizing expectations
  • Signage for customers has been clearly posted on the side of the truck encouraging social distancing
  • Opening and closing procedural checklists have been implemented and updated to reflect COVID-19 guidelines

Fourth Level Protection: Physical Protection
Using Masks & Personal Protective Equipment:

  • All staff wear masks, and/or other PPE and follow strict hygiene standards
  • Single use masks and gloves are available to be used and safely disposed of
  • Staff are required to follow strict handwashing and hand sanitizing procedures when handling money and shared devices
  • All surfaces and equipment are sanitized and disinfected frequently, and the cleaning is recorded when complete to ensure accountability
